Introduction
Welcome,
Since the discovery of C60 by Sir Harold W. Kroto, Robert F. Curl Jr. and the late Richard E. Smalley the field has enjoyed tremendous scientific attention due to their outstanding properties that extend the scope of laboratory research and cover practically every field of every day life, related to research and technology.
Acknowledging the importance of fullerenes, the Academy awarded them the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1996.
The FSAS-2010 is dedicated to the 25 years since the discovery of Fullerenes, and will be held at Hersonisson, in Crete, Greece, from the 4th to the 10th of October, 2010, emphasizing in the following themes:
• Functionalization and Properties
• Endohedral Fullerenes
• Heterofullerenes
• Fullerides
• Hybrid Materials
• Applications
• Theory, Calculations and Modeling
The FSAS-2010 is organized by the Carbon Nanostructures Laboratory (CNSLab), located at the Theoretical and Physical Chemistry, National Hellenic Research Foundation, in Athens, Greece and partially funded by the EU FP7 Capacities Programme: Research Potential (REGPOT-2007-1, NANOHOST project, GA 201729).
The program will include plenary as well as invited lectures, selected oral presentations and there will be a poster session, according to the topics of the conference. The official language of the conference is English.
